However, he stressed they will also be stocking all of the old favourites from breweries like Molson and Labatt’s. The idea is to have large glass coolers showcasing all of the varieties, much like vendors in larger centres.
“I think the demand is there and the market is there, and we can meet the needs of that demographic.”
The new business would be accessible from the front entrance by the parking lot. It would also employ two to three full time people, which would help the local economy.
As they are working in the permit process, an opening date is not yet certain, but Unrau said they would like to do so as soon as possible, in order to take advantage of summer traffic.
The building itself, co-owned with Doug and Rose May, and already the home of apartments and a new cannabis shop, is also continuing its development. Unrau said visitors would notice the inside of the lobby area is all-new. There is one 800 square foot commercial space still available and work has started on the banquet room once again. As well, a new sign is coming up outside.
Unrau said Boissevain had two vendors for many years, and so he expects the business is there. People are very interested and supportive of the venture.
“It’s been pretty fun,” he stated. “We are definitely looking forward to it. The response in the community has been 100% positive.”
