Adult Ed celebrate commencement 2026

It was a changing of the guard at the adult education graduation ceremony in Boissevain on Thursday, June 11. Retiring director Katherine Carlisle (right), who has been with adult learning in Turtle Mountain School Division for 24 years, passed the torch to Tanis Fenwick. It was a fine farewell for Carlisle and the Class of 2026, which had one of the biggest classes ever from the Adult Learning Centres in Boissevain, Killarney and Swan Lake. Readers can also honour the other 2026 graduates from all of the schools in our area within the pages of this issue. Congratulations to all of our graduates of all ages and all levels and all the best in your future endeavours.

This year’s adult ed graduation in Boissevain was not only a farewell for the students, but also for their longtime mentor.

There were 40 students who graduated with their high school diplomas from the Adult Learning Centres in Boissevain, Killarney and Swan Lake in 2026, with a strong number attending their ceremony at the Living Hope Community Church in Boissevain on June 11. This was one of the biggest graduating classes in the centre’s history. It was a big moment for them, as their hard work was rewarded with their passport to a better future.

Class of 2025 ready to shape future

“The future is brimming with possibilities and the future is entirely yours to shape.”

So said Turtle Mountain School Division Superintendent Grant Wiesner. Speaking to the Boissevain School Class of 2025, he was saying a special farewell at the graduation ceremony held on June 25. With the family and friends of the 27 graduates in attendance, they too were able to say goodbye in what was a poignant day as another group of the community’s young people moved on to their next phase.
