Nor-Del is located at 501 Broadway Street. It was not an auto garage before, but Atchison was planning this move, as he bought the property in 2020. He has been more or less preparing since.

The business will handle all of the basic auto mechanics, including oil changes, engine work and the like. At this point, he is not handling tires, but plans are for that to be added soon. Atchison said he has most of the equipment he needs, but will continue to add as needed.

He added there is not really one area of the job he likes more than the other, with one caveat. Atchison does enjoy working on older vehicles. He describes these as the classics “you can’t plug computers into.”

“Some people won’t touch them,” he said. “I will definitely like to do some of that. I don’t mind older vehicles at all. I’m not afraid to work on them.”

Right now, Atchison is the only mechanic at the shop. If business justifies more people, he will see how it goes. Right now, he has been impressed by his reception.

“It’s been a pretty good response from the town and area. It has exceeded my expectations.”

Atchison said he has worked with good people in his past in the auto repair trade. He has learned a lot and wants to continue serving customers in the way they need.

“I just want to do honest work and make a decent living. It was just time to do it, to do my thing.”
