Landscaping, viewing areas and some additional work on the change rooms are on the immediate horizon. The landscaping should be done within the fencing perimeter soon, and they are planning to add additional parking, as it has been a longstanding concern. This will be aided by moving the campground dump station to the north, which will have the added benefit of being better located for the campers as they exit the grounds. Poulin said they appreciate the expertise of the contractor and local sub-contractors, who have made the project run smoothly.

The new centre was to open by the middle of this month. However, as is often the case with these projects, there have been slight delays. Poulin said they are on course, and are looking more toward the end of the month or beginning of August to grab as much of the season as possible. Swimming lessons are planned to begin at the beginning of next month, but they have sent registrants a disclaimer about the opening, and are working to accommodate everyone as best they can.

Fundraising has gone well for the approximately $2 million centre. The committee has overshot their original fundraising goal of $200,000 donations, and now sit at over $325,000. They have also received $600,000 in grants with some pending.

Everyone involved is excited to not only dip a toe, but dive right in to the new pool. 

This amenity is going to be so, so awesome for everyone,” said Poulin. “Our residents, our campground, our tourism.  Completing this facility is long overdue and will be a huge boost to our local and regional tourism.
